Winter Storm - December 18, 2009 : This gallery is just to share photos from the storm. All photos are taken within 5 miles of my home in Blountville TN. Being a Tennessee transplant from Florida - I LOVE this stuff The photos start at 3:15 on December 18, 2009 - just when the flakes started to fall. The photos are in chronological order from there. So far we have been blessed by not losing power, cable, internet, etc .

East Tennessee : Why I love this place..

Bristol, TN : This city is actually in 2 states - Tennessee and Virginia. It's loaded with old timey charm and hospitality.

Kingsport, TN : These are scenes, people and places from all around Kingsport, TN. This place is loaded with charisma.

Jonesborough, TN : Another quaint little East TN town. Lots of history..

Blountville, TN : Blountville is a small, rural town that sits in the center of the triangle referred to as The Tri-Cities (Johnson City, Bristol and Kingsport.) It's one of those little places where everybody knows everybody else. Moving here from Jacksonville, Florida to Blountville, TN - I went into true culture shock. When I recovered - I fell in love with it. Although I still miss the ocean - whenever I travel, I can't wait to see my mountains, hay fields, broken down old tractors and the neighbors waving in the yards. It's home.

South Holsten Lake and Dam : The South Holsten Dam is an absolute jewel of scenic views. At the lower end is a shallow area that on any given day has at least 2-4 fisherman, some in boats, some fly fishing. The South Holsten Lake is popular all summer long with boaters and jet skis.

Fall Color : These were shot in the mountains of East Tennessee near the Tennessee / North Carolina border in an area known as Sam's Gap.

The 1st time I went to the caverns was on a whim to photograph it - I've been back several times since. My son LOVES to take the "Wild Tour" (means YOU WILL GET MUDDY and DIRTY). It's amazing the history associated with this place. The caverns were used as a hospital during the civil war. In depth history can be found on their website. They have a great campground (first hand experience with my son's Boy Scout troop) and the cabin on the property is amazing - built in 1777. Local archives back up the claims.
